28 Masters Swimmers Eligible to Compete at the US Olympic Trials

We have identified twenty-eight current and previous Masters swimmers who have qualified to compete for a spot on the 2008 US Olympic Swim Team. The Olympic Trials will be held from Sunday, June 29^th through Sunday, July 6^th. Congratulations to each of these swimmers for their excellence and determination!

The Trials will be shown on TV daily, June 29-July 6 from 8-9pm EDT (view the schedule of events). Friday through Sunday coverage is on NBC and Monday through Thursday coverage can be seen on USA. Check your local listings for the show times in your area. You can check on the progress of your favorite swimmers and Masters competitors via Omega Timing’s meet results and live timing features.

As part of its support for the USA Swimming Olympic Trials (press release), USMS will be a Presenting Sponsor of the 100-meter men’s backstroke, and be the Presenting Sponsor of three time Olympic Gold Medalist and NBC Olympic Games commentator Rowdy Gaines' July 4^th 1PM appearance in the AquaZone. USMS will have signage in the AquaZone and encourages all USMS members in attendance to come to the AquaZone and serve as goodwill ambassadors during Rowdy’s appearance.  Additionally, USMS will be gathering video and audio testimonials from past Olympians and coaches for future promotional use, and the current “Why Join USMS” promotional video will air intermittently during the Trials.

For those attending the Trials, the USA Swimming Foundation is offering an organized “behind the scenes” tour to Masters Swimmers (details to be sent to those attending). The Nebraska LMSC has reserved pool time from 6-7AM Saturday June 30^th through July 5^th at the Brownell-Talbot School (400 N. Happy Hollow Blvd, Omaha, NE 68132).  There is no cost to USMS members to swim during this time. Space is limited and only registered USMS members will be able to participate.
