Attractions
The Richmond region is an amazing destination for sports of all kinds. When you come here as an athlete or an athlete’s family, you’ll win big after your event, too. Because this is a region filled with one-of-a-kind experiences. Where else can you ride whitewater rapids through the heart of a downtown? Or learn about Pocahontas, right where she lived? Or feed a giraffe out of your hand? Maybe that’s why the New York Times just called us one of their 52 Places to Go or why National Geographic called us one of the best places in the world – yes, the world -- for food. Our arts scene, our foodie and craft beer scene, our world-class outdoors – this all makes it worth extending your visit here for sports into a visit you’ll never forget.

History & Museums
The events that shaped who we are as a country – they’re all part of the experience of visiting the Richmond Region. The minute you arrive, you can feel it. The streets are paved in cobblestone. Centuries-old buildings line the streets, and country roads are dotted with historic markers. But along with our well-preserved beauty is the full story of what has happened here. Stories of colonists and the Powhatan Indians. The slave trade. The fight for religious freedom, the Revolution, the Civil War, and Civil Rights. This is a place to learn, to try to understand, and to gain perspective. It’s a place where you can witness the evolution of who we are – and see how revelation has inspired change. Check out the Richmond region's collection of museums and experience Richmond's history.
