2026 Open Water National Championships
There is a race for every open water swimmer ranging from 1 mile to 10K. We'll kick off the season in Sarasota alongside USA Swimming Open Water Nationals where you'll have a chance to swim 1 mile (April 3) or 5K (April 4) and cheer on Olympians and National Team members at the same venue. Next will be the Marathon-Distance Open Water Nationals in Applegate Lake, OR on July 18. We'll finish up in Square Lake, MN on July 25 for the Middle-Distance Water Nationals.
Course Descriptions
- USMS Sprint-Distance Open Water Championship (one mile on a quarter-mile straightaway or open water course)
- USMS 1-Mile Cable Open Water Championship (quarter-mile straightaway)
- USMS 2-Mile Cable Open Water Championship (quarter-mile straightaway)
- USMS Middle-Distance Open Water Championship (greater than 1 mile and less than or equal to 3 miles)
- USMS Long-Distance Open Water Championship (greater than 3 miles and less than 6 miles)
- USMS Marathon-Distance Open Water Championship (greater than or equal to 6 miles and less than 9 miles)
- USMS Ultramarathon-Distance Open Water Championship (greater than or equal to 9 miles)
