Sam was always ready to fill open swimming volunteer positions when there was a need. Sam was on the USMS Finance Committee (2024-2025) and she served on the USMS Board of Directors as the At-large Director from the Breadbasket Zone (2024-2025). She was a USMS official, and she was a consistent ALTS Volunteer (2024-2025). As an ALTS Volunteer, Sam changed the lives of the students she worked with and helped them to overcome their fear of the water. Sam was the Vice Chair of her Minnesota (MINN) LMSC (2023-2025) and she was responsible for the MINN LMSC’s Social Media (2024-2025). Additionally, she was her Club’s (MNICE) Coach and the Southwest High School Girls Swim Team Assistant Coach, which was a paid position. She received the High School Section’s Coach of the Year Award. Sam’s volunteer service made a difference and she was a role model and inspiration to other USMS and MINN members.
