Susan served as the Kentucky LMSC's Membership Director for many decades. Since 2005, she held many National Level Committee positions, as well. Starting in 2005 Susan became editor of the USMS Rule Book. From there her Committee involvement was long and impressive and included: Communications Committee (2005–2009), Marketing Committee (2005–2007), Rules Committee (2006–2015), Legislation Committee (2006-2015), Long Distance Committee (2006–2014), Membership Committee Member (2008-2013), and (2016-2017), Co-Vice Chair (2014) and Chair (2018–2020), Elections Committee (2016-2022), Swimming Saves Lives Foundation (2018–2019), LMSC Development Committee (2021-2021), Finance Committee (2023), Governance Committee (2024), and LMSC Development Committee (2024). Susan also played a significant role in two virtual long-distance championships hosted by the Kentucky LMSC, where she successfully bid for and administered the events. Whenever anyone asked her to help with anything related to USMS, she always responds with a "yes." Susan was incredibly organized and thorough. She valued the voices and opinions of all committee members and responded with thoughtfulness. Most importantly she had a passion and commitment to USMS. She understood the USMS organization and the needs of their members. She continuously dedicated herself to USMS, and her Committee Members were proud to nominate her for this well-deserved award.
