USMS Award Recipient

U.S. Masters Swimming Dorothy Donnelly Service Award

Recipient: Kay Turner
Year: 2021
LMSC: Niagara

Kay’s contributions date back to the earliest days of Niagara LMSC, where she laid the groundwork for several initial positions. She was the first Treasurer on record (mid 1980’s-1995). She was also the first Records Coordinator (1993-1997). Once replacements were secured, Kay moved on to the Long Distance/Postal Coordinator (1998-2010) position and she promoted national postal events, coordinated relays, and ran special events to encourage participation. After a short hiatus from the LMSC board, Kay volunteered to be the Sanctions Coordinator (2012-present). Involved in just about every aspect of the LMSC, Kay was always willing to step aside or move to other roles when needed. In addition to board involvement, Kay was an administrator for Rochester Area Masters Swimming Club for many years. She was cohost of a long-running annual pool competition. And she processed club registrations/payments and coordinated different aspects of practice scheduling for many years.
