U.S. Masters Swimming Dorothy Donnelly Service Award
Recipient: | Hill Carrow |
Year: | 2021 |
LMSC: | North Carolina |
Hill served the North Carolina LMSC as chair from 1982-1985 and founded Raleigh Area Masters. He was a National Committee member since the 1980’s as well. He was meet director for USMS National Championships in 1984, 1992, 2012, and 2021. As a member of the Recognition and Awards Committee, he was well known at the USMS Annual Meetings for the clever poems he created to announce the recipients of this very award. Overlooked for too long, Hill was lauded for his leadership while organizing and hosting the annual U.S. Masters Swimming High Performance Camps. He worked for two years to identify the best possible venue, faculty, accommodations, transport, sponsors, and curriculum for the camp. The camp launched in August 2011 and continued for 10 years. Hill contributed several month-worth of volunteer time each year to assure that the camps were successful.
