Melody served as the Wisconsin LMSC Fitness Chair for nearly ten years. She established and coordinated the Wisconsin Water Warriors fitness event. Melody distributed information about the event, encouraged participation, tabulated results, and designed and built the awards with her father. She attended her first convention in 2017 and served on the Sports Medicine Committee. Her experience as a statistician was put to work as she interpreted research that came before the committee. A marathon open water swimmer, Melody contributed articles that incentivized other Masters swimmers to give open water swimming a try.
